Paperweights of New England
The New England Paperweight Collectors Association is exhibiting a dazzling display of outstanding paperweights by well-known artists will be on view at the Museum from April 4 to June 10, 2007. This special exhibit of New England antique and contemporary paperweights provides a rare opportunity to view examples from both private and public collections.
Featured in the exhibit will be paperweights by four major New England artists: Rick Ayotte, Charles Kazuin, Jr., Josh Simpson and Debbie Tarsitano. Also highlighted will be rare and beautiful paperweights from the New England Glass Co., Sandwich and Mt. Washington, many of them on loan to the exhibit by the Bergstrom Mahler Museum, Neenah, Wisconsin, which has one of the most outstanding collections of paperweights in the country.
A special group of weights has been added to this exhibit featuring five that were included in the Great Corning Exhibit: “Flowers that Clothe the Meadows.” That exhibit brought together 300 of the world’s finest paperweights in one space. You will have the opportunity to observe the beauty of these wonderful weights at the Sandwich Museum’s exhibit.
This is a star-studded show with unique pieces and one-of-kind paperweights very rarely seen. It is a great opportunity to observe the beauty of the wonderful world of weights at the Sandwich Glass Museum!
